Identity Poem-Tiger
Identity Poem-Tiger
By Niranjan .
Grade 7.
Let them be as social lions
Always sleeping, yawning, socializing
But looting from a greedy hyena.
I’d rather be a solitary tiger,
stalking on the hunt like
A soaring eagle.
To have an omniscient view of the mangroves,
To swim in the sweltering sun
To be free from itchy manes or
Climates with no rain.
I’d rather be secluded, and if
Then plagued by competition,
Then to be robbed of your talent
Where you’re nursing, hunting, feeding
By the name of living.
I’d rather face the bone-chilling blizzards of Siberia
Than lie sitting in the grasslands.
If I could focus and be dedicated,
I’d rather be a solitary tiger.
Explanation
I chose the tiger and compared it to the lion because tigers live alone. I also like to live alone and I want to be determined, like the tiger. A lion is the opposite of me. Lions live in prides and steal hunts from hyenas. And as I see in the zoos, lions are also lazy. I am not like that. I want to be productive, just like the tiger.
